Hey, everybody, it’s summer, which means it’s time for, well, summery things, like the library’s summer reading program. 🙂
Last summer, we had a blast with our reading challenge through Beanstack, pandemic be darned. We also raised over $15,000, well ahead of our $10,000 goal. Since then, we’ve had a few more challenges, including for watching movies and just donating in general, and we are always so pleased and humbled by the enthusiastic response we receive.
And thanks to the Squires family and their generosity, we can do this again this summer. They will be matching a dollar for every hour read between June 7 and July 30, as long as we hit the goal of 15,000 hours.
Want to participate? Of course you do! Keep reading to find out how.
Like last year, you can track your hours either on Beanstack through an online browser, through the Beanstack app itself on your phone, or on paper forms you can pick up at the library.
Also the same as last year, all reading counts, including listening to audiobooks and reading to others.
We also have a range of challenges for different ages.
Kids under 6 can look forward to a Zookeeper challenge.
For kids 6 to 9, their challenge is African safari-themed, while kids 9 to 12 get an Amazon safari.
Teens, meanwhile, get a Deep Sea Diving adventure.
And last but not least, adults get to try their hand at being Jungle Survivors.
Have fun, and be sure to spread the word about the summer challenge! Participants do not have to live in Berryville, but they will need to sign up and report their hours for their reading to count.
If you, your business, or your civic organization is interested in sponsoring a challenge (including summer reading in the future), please let us know. We have raised over $45,000 through these types of challenges in less than a year, not counting whatever we raise this summer. They are very successful, fun fundraising opportunities for us.
Have you signed up for summer reading yet? Do you have any questions about how to use Beanstack? Do you have a personal reading goal for the summer? What are you planning on reading this summer? Tell us in the comments!
